Well the wedding season has truly kicked off for Frankly Jazz with 4 weddings in the last 2 weeks! I don’t think i’m the only one whose head is spinning a bit right now. Of course the band runs like a well oiled machine (ahem!), however track and trace, the NHS app and the 3rd Covid 19 wave has made life pretty difficult for musicians and wedding planners across the UK. Our black book of jazz contacts was needed due to the app imposed self isolation of 3 band members. Thankfully the weddings in Great Langton, Driffield and York were great fun. 3 of the weddings were in marquees in private grounds and one was at the beautiful Highfield House.  Playing with our 6 piece jazz combo of sax, trumpet, rhythm really gives us licence to play some proper jazz. Uninhibited by the sheet music required for the bigger bands really gives the amazing soloists the chance to unleash some of their pent up jazz improv! There was plenty of swing, jive and New Orleans beats to keep the guests on their toes..Everyone coped admirably with the restrictions imposed on them – and as the weather has been pretty good there has been a fair amount of outside dancing.
